A part of Silk Road history, the GuanZi (also called Bili) has been a prominent double reed wind instrument since the Zhou Dynasty.
Often depicted in early Western Region nomadic poetry, its sound can be quite colorful, sometimes soft, sometimes thick, and sometimes raucous, with wide range of tonal expression and dynamics.
Chinese Pipe-GuanZi uses the mod wheel to easily control staccato & vibrato, as well as crossfading between soft and hard samples.
